Reflection:
Both my masters and licensure programs introduced me to so many aspects of educational leadership I had little to no experience in, and I would absolutely put policy and law into that category. From recognizing the impact court decisions have had on our everyday classrooms to analyzing bills currently in the Minnesota legislature, it was both fascinating and highly supportive of my growth to recognize the critical role standards, regulations, and law play in all aspects of education. My licensure program in particular also explored finance legislation and special education legislation in depth, which only deepened a holistic view on the role policy and law play in education. My learning in this area will inevitably support my ability to be a more informed, mindful leader in the future.
