Reflection:
I was extremely committed to improving in this competency knowing how much leverage exists in being able to forge strong connections and lines of communication with the wider community. In all of my experiences in education, I feel that school and community relations are an area nearly every educational organization can improve upon. Given that, I was particularly engaged with coursework related to this competency, and feel positive about the progress I have made. In particular, my School and Community Relations course pushed me to look at the various ways and hows of connecting with the community, and my experience as a coordinator of learning also gave me the opportunity to present to and gather feedback from our community comprised Systems Improvement Advisory Council. My licensure practicum also involved multiple opportunities to collaborate with our Director of Communications to develop outward facing messaging about current projects and initiatives. While I still have room to grow in this competency, I feel much better equipped to leverage the power of school and community relations as a leader.
