Reflection:

Given my background as both a continuous improvement and innovation coach and coordinator of learning, I began my graduate studies feeling most confident and experienced with the communication competency. A large portion of my work has involved crafting internal and external messaging as well as developing and implementing presentations and professional learning. That said, I was grateful to extend my learning in this program as well. Nearly all of my classes reinforced the importance in educational leadership of being able to develop messaging for various audiences and balance clarity with the ability to be concise. A large portion of both of my practicums centered on facilitation skills as well as my ability to communicate better with our principals to filter district work to the building level, both of which enhanced my proficiency with this competency. Overall, I feel well equipped to communicate effectively as an educational leader with all of the stakeholder groups with which I will work.
